Trend Alert: Mixing Prints

May 18, 2010

There are no hard and fast rules in fashion (expect maybe not to wear black and navy together). That being said feel free to mix and match prints, from stripes to polka dots, florals to ikats, and checkers to plaids!

One word of advice – try to keep the pieces in the same color family to prevent it from looking like you got dressed in the dark. Here are just a few ideas:

Forever 21

Outfit 1:Ikat Linen Top, $17.80 & Button Floral Skirt, $18.90 Outfit 2: Peep Black Rose Tunic, $17.80 & Double Knit Striped Skirt, $13.80 Outfit 3: Striped Ribbed Tank, $4.50 & Ruffled Floral Skirt, $15.80

French Connection

Outfit 1: Sequin Spirit Top, $228 & Totally Tropical Skirt, $118 Outfit 2China Rose Top, $78 & Rainbow Skirt, $98 Outfit 3: Emblematic Cardigan, $188 & Romany Rose Skirt, $98

Outfit 1: Limon Fuzz Shorts, $188 & Sunday Supper Shirt, $68 Outfit 2: Crayon Wings Top, $78 & Heatwave Shorts, $58 Outfit 3: Phosphoresence Skirt, $98 & Nell Tank, $48

So what do you think? Is this a look you’re willing to try, or does it make you dizzy  just thinking about it!?

I cannot wrap my head around most of these outfits. I just don’t think mixing that bold of prints is a fashion statement that would work for me.
